Bambi ridden by HRH The Prince of Wales

This family stems from HAYDON ROSE by Rosewing II, sire of the renowned Hayes and Cameron’s Simmer, winner of numerous open campdrafts and champion hacks. Her mother was an exceptional polo mare but due to being blinded in one eye as a foal, Rose was only used as a broodmare. She was a mare of exceptional conformation with a long rein and produced many good foals.

ROSE was dam of-
LUBRA by Bobbed Steel, Champion Hack at Brisbane Exhibition;
ROSETTA by Bobbed Steel, mother of STAR and ROSALEA a top polo mare;
BAMBI by Young Valais, a brilliant all-round performance mare winning Champion polo pony awards, show jumping and sporting events;
JUST FRED by Young Valais sold to The Cowdrey’s, a top campdraft performer, winner of many working stock horse classes and sire of many good polo ponies and performance horses, including the dam of HAZELWOOD ROMANCE; GYPSEY I by Young Valais, dam of GYPSEY II by Percy II, Australian Cutting Horse Champion in 1969.

The family continues today mostly through the BAMBI Branch and the GYPSEY II Branch.

BAMBI BRANCH

BAMBI had an impressive performance record: Winner of Champion Polo Pony at Quirindi 1966 and 1967, Gunnedah 1966 and played HRH Prince Charles in 1966. Her granddaughter, Gazelle, also a winner of Champion Polo Pony Awards was also played by HRH Prince Charles many years later. Bambi dominated pony club events and especially in show jumping. Bambi’s daughter KUDU by Blukens and BRAMBI by Beranghi have both produced many good foals.

KUDUs foal’s including;
IMPALA by Beranghi a good polocrosse mare, the winner of many awards, and her full brother a sire used at Glen Rock Station;
ELK by Bandora’s Gift played in 1987 Easter International by New Zealander Robbie Saunders;
GAZELLE (see above)
DEERFOOT by Never Doubt played polo.
SPRINGBOK was used as a broodmare and was dam of VELVET by Victory who played at Ellerston.

BRAMBI was dam of fifteen foals including;
FAWN by Bandora’s Gift a top broodmare; see below.
HUSH by Rodeo Rush a successful stallion and his two full sisters IMPALA 11 an exceptional cattle mare and BAMBILEEN mother of polo mare BANDILETTA by Bright Night; BAMBER by Bush Glow who has amassed an incredible list of show ring wins; BUSH CAMP by Bush Glow played polocrosse and campdrafted; and his full sister ROSE BUSH played good polocrosse; DRIFTWOOD, FLEETWOOD, ROSE BOWL & DIVA all by Drawn.
BERINGA by Never Doubt was the mother of BEAM by Sunbeam who proved a very smart horse in working classes and polocrosse, winner of a Rookie Horse of the Year and other polocrosse awards.
BRAGALEE purchased by David Wirth.
BRUSH by Bush Glow a sire that went north to Cape York.
BUSH ROSE dam of GUN’S & ROSE’S by Easy Sun winner of numerous ribbons in the show ring.

FAWN has proven one of the stud’s best broodmares producing twelve registered foals including;
SABLE by Never Doubt an outstanding type of mare and a top producing broodmare. See below.
CANNON the successful Musket stallion a winner of campdrafts and used as a sire by Prudential Pastoral Co and then in the Kimberleys;
ORYX by Bush Glow purchased by Tim Scales, Merriwa as a sire; his full brother BUSH VELDT used by the Litchfield’s at Cooma.
FLORA by Bush Glow played polo.
SUN FLOWER by Sunbeam sold as a yearling.
FIESTA by Drawn purchased by Dallas Harrison, Grafton and proving a top pony club & show mount.
BLOOM by Bush Glow purchased by John Hastie, Innisfail, Queensland, very successful in ASH classes before going to the Lester Family in WA.
POSY by Drawn purchased by Lindsay Knight, proving a good broodmare.
FASTNET & FALCON by Drawn, ridden by Jamie Inglis.

SABLE like her mother has been one of the best producing mares, producing fourteen registered foals, including;
ELAND by Bush Glow purchased by the Walker family and a successful hack.
CARIBOU by Bush Glow who won a best polocrosse horse award at his fourth tournament and was ASH Zone Rookie Horse of the Year.
MASAI by Bush Glow similarly played polocrosse.
DRAWAWAY by Drawn was top priced colt at the 1997 sale and went on to be a sire in Western Australia.
MINK by Bush Glow and NECTAR by Drawn sold to same owner.
BLUSH by Drawn proving a top polo mare, played in the final of the Ellerston high goal in 2005 before playing in England.
VOSS by Drawn played polo & polocrosse.
ROSECUP by Drawn a great type & easy to play, won polo awards in Western Australia for the Lester Family.
ERASSMUS by Victory played polo.
TEA ROSE by Dancer a good type was played and then joined as a broodmare in 2010.

NIGHT ROSE 2005 by Nightwatch, retained as a broodmare

Gypsey II Australian Cutting Horse Champion

GYPSEY II was a mare with outstanding cattle ability. She flew the flag for Australian bred horses competing against the invasion of American Quarter Horses during the 1960’s/70’s. She won the Australian Cutting Horse Championship in 1969, was awarded N.C.H.A Certificate of Merit and Ability, won the Working Cow Horse at the N.S.W Quarter Horse Shows in 1970,71 and 72, and Champion All-round Horse in 1970. She was successful in limited campdrafting nearly always winning the cutout prize.

As a broodmare she produced;
GYPSEY MOTH by Never Doubt a top polo mare and when shown won Champion Led Mare at Scone beating Breezette.
GYPSEY’S GIFT by Bandora’s Gift, successful in led classes and proving to be a top broodmare. She was purchased at the 1997 sale as a seventeen year old mare by John Lyons St George, Queensland with the Drawn filly Penny Gift at foot. Her foals include GYPSEY ROSE by Beranghi successful campdrafter, ROMANY by Never Doubt has also proved a good producing mare, with top filly MANTILLA by Sunbeam also purchased by John Lyons, being Champion Filly at the 1998 Queensland Championships and Reserve Champion mare, and doing well at futurities and on cattle; Romany was purchased by Andrew & Diana Cameron from South Australia at the 1997 sale with a Drawn filly PEONY ROSE at foot, who has been very successful playing polocrosse.
SIMANDA by Never Doubt prize winning polocrosse mare.
MUSELINE by Musket purchased by Terry Sloman and a successful campdraft horse; WANDERER by Coeur Desiree played very good polocrosse.
BANDANNA by Never Doubt led the 1996 Adamstown Anzac parade fully attired as an authentic “Waler” ridden by the president of the Waler’s Association, has played polo and is continued for many years as a Waler in many Light Horse parades ridden by John May-Steers.
GYPSEY GLOW topped priced filly in 1994 and FIRE BUSH by Bush Glow were purchased by Terry Sloman.
BUSH GYPSEY purchased by Gordon Petty, Milton and shown successfully.
GERRARD by Bush Glow purchased by John Lyons, St George, Queensland.
PENNY GIFT by Drawn to John Lyons.

GYPSEY II’s daughter ROSALIE by Beranghi was a very smart mare and mother of;
REX by Never Doubt the winner of campdrafts, the good horse ROSCO by Never Doubt and their full sister, the good type of mare ROSETTE purchased by John Lyons and used as a broodmare, see below.;
ROSEINDA by Musket top price filly at the 1991 sale and very successful performance mare;
FIREFLY the smart horse and successful campdrafter by Bush Glow;
SUN ROSE by Sunbeam retained as a broodmare, see below.
CASINO by Drawn, a prolific winner in the show ring. ROSALIE was purchased at eighteen years of age by Milty Hill, Casino.
ROSETTE‘s first foal BUSH TRAIL by Bush Glow won Champion Gelding at ASH Show at Scone in 1996, was purchased by Paul Kratz, Grafton and proved a very good horse; his full brothers NOMAD and BUSH TREK were sold in the 1997 sale. Rosette was purchased at the 1997 sale John Lyons St George, Queensland with the Drawn filly Rugosa at foot.

SUN ROSE by Sunbeam was a quality mare retained as a broodmare. Her first foal in 1998 was the filly WEDDING DAY by Drawn owned by Peter Crowe. Her other foals include;
BOUQUET by Drawn purchased by Ken & Jim MacCallum.
VIOLET by Drawn purchased by Snow Bragg and an outstanding mare to ride in his steep country;
ELM by Victory an easing going polo mare, sold overseas.
APOLLO by Nightwatch playing polocrosse, won his first award in 2011.
SATELLITE by Nightwatch was exported to USA as sire in 2008.
ENDEAVOUR by Nightwatch selected for 2011 Colt Sale, has done stock work, stick and balled, a very good temperament and going well.
ORBITALby Nightwatch selected for 2011 Colt Sale a particularly quite colt and goes well stick and balling.
