Haydon Dawn by Haydon Starlight

FB (Jim) Haydon on Haydon Dawn by Haydon Starlight represented NSW in 1938

This family goes back well before the 1880’s at Bloomfield originating with HIGHLAND MARY by Highlander, by Goldsborough (imp). She won many races and produced LITTLE MARY by Tester who won lots of local Bridle Spurts for Bernard Haydon.

Her filly by The Dane, BROWN MARY proved a very versatile sporting and sprinting mare. The family continued on with her filly HAYDON FIDGET by Rocket, who is in the pedigree of all time top mare Hazelwood Romance and was the sire of the influential stallion Haydon Starlight. Fidget was a top campdraft performer winning the Championship Campdraft at Gundy in 1938 and then going on to become a very good polo pony.

Her three quarter sister by Haydon Starlight, HAYDON DAWN also proved a top performance mare;

-Won Wingen Open Campdraft in 1937 to win the Durham Cup Trophy and Champion Sash

-Won Novice Campdraft Wingen 1937

-Won numerous Cut Out prizes

-Select to represented N.S.W. beating Queensland in the Atlantic Ethyl Campdraft Cup at the Sydney R.A.S in 1938.

-Then turned out and never campdrafted again due to the outbreak of WWII.

As a broodmare she produced the sire used in Queensland HAYDON DAYBREAK and HAYDON DAWN II by Glamour’s full brother Smokey by Dimray.

FIDGET produced HAYDON WINSOME by Bobbed Steel a highly successful mare in campdrafting, winning many cut-out prizes, hack and polo classes, her full sister HAYDON WIGGLE also won many ribbons in sporting events and five other foals.

-Won Cut-Out Prize Willow Tree 1947

-Divided 2nd, 3rd & 4th Open Campdraft Willow Tree November 1947

-Won Cut-Out Prize Wingham December 1947 and 4th Open Campdraft ridden Gwen Winter

-Won Novice Campdraft Deepwater December 1947 for Gwen Winter

-3rd Open Campdraft Murrurundi November 1948

-Won Open Cut-Out Prize Murrurundi 1948

WINSOME II by Chan who inherited his great front and was used as a broodmare. Her foals include;

-HIGHLANDER used as a stallion in Queensland.

CUDAPPAN by Blukens whose daughter by Beranghi, BRINSOME (Bess) won Champion Polocrosse Pony at Longreach in 1991 and again the following year played by Peter Johnston. She produced a good mare by Remedy, BEES KNEES who was successful in the show ring.

CUNYARIE TRILBY  by Haydon Never Doubt a good type of 2 year old filly when sold to South Australia.

CULGOA by Never Doubt who won the Queensland Junior Showjumping Championships.

FIDGET II by Beranghi a good type of mare shown successfully up to State Championship level and as a broodmare produced;

WITHOUT DOUBT (Winnie) by Never Doubt  a brown mare foaled  in 1990 (111841) played 10 straight years at Ellerston having a remarkable sustained playing record. She played at Scone before going to Western Australia, winning prizes there played by top English player Will Lucas. In Queensland she played in many Wanless winning teams. In her 10 years at Ellerston she was played by many top players, including a 9 goaler in the winning Wanless Team.

ASH by Bush Glow purchased by Al Simpson, Ellerston.

BUSH STAR by Bush Glow purchased by John Body who described her as “one of the best young horses he had had”.

  –WIDGET and DIGIT  by Bush Glow sold as geldings at our sale and went on to perform well.

Haydon Fidget was purchased by Jim Gilbert in 1997 from Queensland with her foal Ambush at foot and in foal to Haydon Drawn, resulting in the filly HAYDON SHAQUANA. She then produced TRUE CHANCE a gelding by Yarrawa True Blood and in 2000 FINE STEEL  by Parkway Allaby by Reality and used as a stallion.

HAYDON WITHOUT  returned to Haydon Horse Stud at 18 years where she has produced;
HAYDON HECTARE by Acres Destiny foaled in 2009 sold at the 2011 Colt Sale going the Queensland as a stallion.

HAYDON DIANA by Murrabong Victory, a bay filly foaled in 2010 going onto play good polo.

HAYDON FAITH by Murrabong Victory, a bay filly foaled in 2011 going to Steph Edwards for polocrosse.

HAYDON QUESTION by Techrico, her last, a bay gelding foaled in 2013 who has been successful in the show ring for Blake Paulston.

HAYDON SHAQUANA by renowned sire Haydon Drawn produced for the Gilbert’s GILVIEW HEARTSTOPPER a gelding in 2012 by Royalle Heartacre and DESTINED TO WINSOME a gelding by Acres Destiny in 2013 before being purchased by the Grill’s Family Berragoon ASH Stud, at Holbrook.
