HAYDON SUNBEAM was bred especially to combine the bloodlines of Sundown, The Gun and Bobby Bruce. He is by Breezette’s full brother MUSKET out of a mare regarded as one the best types by Sundown SUNSHOWER.
He comes from a family with a long line of quality horses very successful in the show ring. His great great grandmother VALTO produced SUNNY by Bobbed Steel whose dam Gooia was Champion Hack at Sydney Royal. SUNNY produced SUNTAN by Gemborough by Emborough (imp) the sire of Bernborough. Gemborough also sired horses of the calibre of PRUDENCE-many times Champion Hack and one of Australia’s top dressage horses ridden by Judy Mackay; BAMBALINA-most successful galloway ever at
Sydney Royal being Champion four times ridden by Jill Haydon; JOY-successful hack at Brisbane Royal and the sire GEMBACOLLIE.
SUNTAN was a mare that was hard to fault and was highly successful in thoroughbred and Champion Hack classes including Sydney Royal. SUNTAN’S foals include the sire SUNNY SOUVENIR by Souvenir and SUNBEAM’S mother SUNSHOWER.
SUNSHOWER was by the legendary SUNDOWN by Midstream, a beautiful quality mare, proving a top stock mare ridden by Hilton Haydon. At stud she excelled producing many good foals including;
TITAN(Goldie) by Souverleen was purchased by Ellerston and was played by the English Polo Captain Howard Hipwood in the 1988 Test Match. Goldie proved an exception broodmare producing, Soufflé bred at Ellerston by Longboat was taken to England in 1997 for ten goaler Gonzalo Pieres for the high goal, Ellerston Horne right up there with the best ever at Ellerston, Scratch played many years of high goal polo and Flirt BPP at Ellerston in 2011 played by Ruki Baillieu.
INCA SUN by Never Doubt shown successfully in led classes and played polo by Angus Scott including at the Ellerston high goal;
SUNRISE by Never Doubt also shown successfully including second at the State Championship at Dubbo and played polo.
SUN GUN by Musket sold as a sire to B. Webb, Qld winning at his first showing in 1991 beating a field that included Brisbane winners,
RAINGUN purchased by Jamie Inglis.
SUNBEAM was retained by the stud as a sire.

RAINSTORM retained as a broodmare producing excellent progeny, including SCUD who played in the final of 2010 Gold Cup final at Cowdray Park.
EASY SUN retained as a stallion.
SUNBEAM’s first foal was SUN GEM out of Tiara purchased by the Walker family was shown successfully. His daughter NIGHT BEAM was Champion Yearling at the 1997 Scone ASH Show and went on to be top priced yearling filly at the 1997 National Championship Yearling Sale at Grafton, purchased by Maxine Brooks before going on to win Futurities. Another daughter SUN FLOWER was purchased as a yearling by Warren Crittle. BEAM won polocrosse awards, MANTILLA excelled in many competitions and SUN ROSE is the dam of HAYDON SATELLITE exported as a sire to USA.
Unfortunately, he was gelded a decision now regretted, but was replaced by SUNSHOWER’S last foal the colt EASY SUN born in 1997 by Easy Gun. Again EASY SUN was bred especially to combine the three bloodlines of Sundown, The Gun, as well as Never-in-Doubt.
